Molly Merrett
What do you enjoy most about your role?
I enjoy the fact that no day is the same. I love that I am consistently able to connect with my students in different ways and help them learn in various settings, whilst also having a laugh as we do it. It is so rewarding helping people and I get to do this everyday.
What does a typical day look like for you?
A typical day for me involves exercising in the morning and then a coffee on my way to work. These two small things I value as they allow me to start the day in a positive way! I spend homeroom with my vibrant 7 Green students where we connect and set the pace for the day. I then teach a mixture of Year 7 & 12 English, Year 11 Psychology or Year 7 RE depending on the timetable for the day. In the afternoons I usually have a meeting and then back home to reset for another day at »¤Ê¿É«ÇéƬ.
Most rewarding aspect of working at »¤Ê¿É«ÇéƬ?
Seeing progress in student achievement and wellbeing. I really value the mentoring/support person aspect of my job and being able to help my students navigate through their adolescent years is something I find rewarding, challenging and exciting all at the same time!
Why did you choose to work in Catholic education?
I went to a Catholic secondary school myself so have grown up with the Catholic values instilled in me. I wanted to help provide the positive experience that I once had at a Catholic all girls school to those younger than me.
What makes »¤Ê¿É«ÇéƬ a great learning community?Â
The people! There isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t feel welcome at »¤Ê¿É«ÇéƬ. Whether it be the constant waves and smiles from students who are genuinely happy to be here or the ongoing support and encouragement from my colleagues. It really is a team effort and the »¤Ê¿É«ÇéƬ family makes learning accessible, fun, rewarding and beneficial through the wide range of opportunities and teaching styles we employ.
